Essential Grooming Rules for Men

Essential Grooming Rules for Men - Zafra

When you look great, you feel great. Having more confidence can allow you to get more things done every day. In most cases, men may be more low maintenance when it comes to grooming. But that doesn't mean you don't need to take as much time each day for your grooming regimen. Refer to this checklist to get your Grooming To-Do's in day.

Wash your face religiously with a gentle cleanser

You might think, what do I need cleansers for? It's not like I wear makeup. The fact is, cleansers are also effective in cleansing pollutants, bacteria and unwanted debris which you are definitely not susceptible from, especially if you've been out for a day. Cleansing your face with water just won't do. Wash your face with a mild cleanser at least once or twice a day.

Make sure to moisturize

To keep your skin youthful, you need moisture. After cleansing, your face could dry up so you need to add in moisture to retain your skin's glow. Pick a gentle moisturizer based on your skin type. If you have oily skin, opt for non-greasy lotions instead of thick creams. For dry skin, find a cream with a thicker substance and good oil content. And if you have spots of oily and dry skin, choose a mild product that won't upset your skin.

Get scrubbing

It's important to get rid of the buildup in your skin that simple cleansing cannot get rid of. Scrub the dead skin away with a gentle exfoliator. For heavier scrubbing, use a microbead-free scrub, and for every other day of the week, go for a less abrasive exfoliant.

Own your signature scent

A man who smells good is definitely attractive. A man who has a signature scent is definitely memorable. Find one or two classic scents you really like and invest in them. Typically woody, spicy or herby scents suit the winter months, while lighter, citrusy scents work best in spring and summer.

Manage your facial hair

Maybe you prefer having facial hair; that's completely okay. But it's also good to trim your beard every now and then, and have it shaped according to your face and cheekline. Make sure to wash it regularly with shampoo (and conditioner if needed) and if it’s really wild, get a designated mustache wax. And what if you're not a fan of the beard? Invest in a high-quality trimmer or razor and make sure to use gentle shaving cream.

Use hair products made especially for men

Men's hair has different needs from women's hair. So if you're using your partner's shampoo, it may not exactly be doing anything good for you. Get hair products that match your hair. Find one that addresses your concerns--is your scalp oily or do you get dry flakes that resemble dandruff on your shoulders? Your scalp still needs cleansing and moisture and it’s a good idea to take care of it with a shampoo and conditioner made especially for your needs.

Pay attention to your feet

It's ideal to scrub your feet after a bath or shower, when the soles are the softest. You can use a pumice stone or any scrubber to take away the dead skin on your soles. Before this step, make sure to lather first a generous amount of moisturizer.
